The KV-1 Model 1942 with Simplified Turret was a late-war production version of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank, developed during World War II as part of efforts to streamline manufacturing while maintaining heavy armor protection on the Eastern Front. The “simplified turret” design reduced production complexity through flatter armor plates and simplified construction methods, allowing Soviet factories to accelerate output during critical wartime conditions. Despite these simplifications, the KV-1 remained a formidable heavy tank capable of resisting many early German anti-tank weapons while providing strong battlefield support to Red Army offensives and defensive operations.
