The Goshawk was Curtiss's naval version of the Hawk biplane family, and the BFC-2 designation marked its reclassification as a fighter-bomber able to carry a 500 pound bomb on a swinging crutch under the fuselage. Flying from Saratoga and Enterprise through the mid-1930s in the bright squadron colours of the pre-war Navy, it was among the last biplane fighters on American carrier decks before the monoplanes arrived.
