Description

ROD328 - Roden 1/144 VC10 K4 RAF Tanker

The Vickers VC-10 was a long-range, low-wing, four-engine, low-wing, low-wing transport aircraft. The drive was provided by four two-flow engines Rolls-Royce Conway Rco 43D Mk.550 . The flight of the prototype took place in 1962, and serial production lasted from 1962 to 1970. In 2013, the last aircraft of this type was withdrawn from the line. In total, 64 machines of this type were built.

The Vickers VC-10 was designed for long-haul flights and operation in difficult climatic conditions - especially in areas with extremely high temperatures. The machine was characterized by good performance, low failure rate and durability, overall design, but at the same time relatively high operating costs, which contributed to the fact that it found moderate interest in civil markets. However, it served in civilian airlines, including Bahrain, Ghana, Lebanon and Nigeria. Much more popular were machines dedicated to the armed forces as transport machines (VC10 C1) or air tankers (eg VC10 K2). In this configuration, machines of this type were used by the RAF.
