The 1948 Ford station wagon — universally known as the "Woody" — was one of the last American production cars to use actual wood as a structural and decorative body element. Ford used white ash framing and mahogany panelling on the wagon body, a tradition inherited from the coachbuilding era. Post-war Woody wagons became icons of California surf and beach culture through the 1950s and 1960s, and today rank among the most sought-after American collector cars.
