Chevrolet’s third-generation C3 Corvette arrived in 1968 with dramatic “Coke bottle” styling inspired by the Mako Shark II show car. The rarest and most fearsome option that year was the L88, a racing-oriented 427 V8 with aluminium heads. GM officially rated it at 430 hp to discourage casual buyers, but it actually produced well over 500. It required high-octane racing fuel, and buyers couldn’t order a radio or heater with it. Only 80 L88 Corvettes were built in 1968, which makes them among the most valuable Corvettes today. This Revell kit builds the ‘68 Corvette L-88 convertible, with optional hardtop display shown on the box.
