Description
PHOPH2CAB020 - Phoenix Models 1/200 Channel Air Bridge - Aviation Traders ATL-98 Carvair
Freddie Laker’s Aviation Traders created the ATL-98 Carvair by converting Douglas DC-4 airliners into car ferries. They added a raised flight deck above a sideways-opening nose, so cars could be driven straight into the cabin. G-ANYB was the first Carvair converted and flew in 1961 as “Golden Gate Bridge.” Channel Air Bridge used it to carry cars and passengers across the English Channel, and only 21 Carvairs were ever built.
