The Supermarine Spiteful was designed as the successor to the Spitfire, pairing a Griffon engine with an all-new laminar-flow wing that promised higher speeds and better handling at altitude. The first true Spiteful flew in 1944, but with the jet age dawning, only a handful were built before the programme was cancelled, along with a small number of Seafang naval versions for the Fleet Air Arm. The Spiteful's wing lived on in Supermarine's first jet fighter, the Attacker. This handmade 1/48 multimedia kit is from Heritage Aviation Models, an English specialist that hand cast limited-run kits of rare British subjects from the mid-1990s.
