The Carvair was a DC-4 rebuilt with a raised flight deck and a swing nose so cars could be driven straight into the hold, giving it a bulbous profile that predates the 747 look by years. This boxing covers the British Air Ferries machine photographed at Rochford in 1982, in the pale blue and white BAF scheme.
