The Curtiss P-40E Warhawk was the principal American fighter available at the outbreak of the Pacific War, equipping USAAF, RAF, RCAF, RAAF, and Soviet Air Force units across multiple theatres. Although outperformed by the Zero above 15,000 feet, skilled pilots used its diving speed and ruggedness to good effect. The P-40E introduced six .50-calibre wing guns and hardpoints for bombs and drop tanks. Original new tool from Otaki, 1974; OT2-16-500 is the 1980 boxing of the same tooling.
