The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate ("Gale") was Japan's finest mass-produced fighter of the Second World War, powered by the Nakajima Ha-45 radial producing up to 2,000 hp. Fast enough to intercept B-29s and manoeuvrable enough to challenge Allied escort fighters, the Ki-84 entered service in 1944 and equipped numerous IJAAF units through the end of the war. Over 3,500 were built. The Ko sub-variant depicted here carried four 12.7mm machine guns. Original new tool from Otaki, 1973; OT2-10-600 is the 1985 boxing. Series No. 7.
