The Sikorsky S-16 was the first Russian-designed fighter biplane to see operational service in the First World War, entering Imperial Russian Air Service use in 1915. Designed by Igor Sikorsky before his emigration to the United States, it was a tractor biplane powered by an 80hp Gnôme rotary engine, armed with a Colt or Vickers machine gun. The S-16 suffered from directional stability problems, which led to the modified S-16.154 variant — represented here — which featured swept wings with larger vertical tail surfaces and ailerons on both wing panels rather than the standard arrangement. Only a small number of the modified aircraft were built. Omega Models (Jan Pala, Šternberk, Czech Republic) is a small Czech cottage resin manufacturer specialising in rare WWI and interwar Eastern European subjects.
