The A5M4 "Claude" was Japan's front-line carrier fighter before the Zero arrived — an open-cockpit, fixed-undercarriage monoplane that saw extensive action over China in the late 1930s. By Western standards it looks almost quaint, but it was fast and highly manoeuvrable for its era and gave Imperial Navy pilots valuable combat experience that carried directly into the early Pacific War.

Nichimo's kit dates to 1964 and is a genuine piece of early Japanese modelling history. Well moulded for its age with working split wing flaps, rotating prop, cockpit detail, drop tank, and colour decals. Collectible box art on a high-gloss box top. An obscure but characterful subject with limited kit options in this scale.
