The Avro Vulcan was the second of Britain's three V bombers and the one people remember, a huge delta with four Olympus engines that could be thrown around like a fighter. Designed to carry the nuclear deterrent at high altitude, it was pushed down to low level once surface to air missiles made height a liability, and it ended its bombing career conventionally. In 1982 Vulcans of No. 44 Squadron flew the Black Buck raids against Port Stanley, at the time the longest bombing missions ever attempted. This MPC boxing from 1983 uses the Airfix tooling.
