The Heinkel He 111 was the Luftwaffe's principal medium bomber during the early years of World War II, originating in the early 1930s as a design that disguised its military purpose behind a commercial transport configuration. Extensively glazed at the nose, twin-engined, and relatively fast at introduction, it saw its limitations exposed during the Battle of Britain where its defensive armament and manoeuvrability proved inadequate against RAF fighters. Later H-series variants were adapted for multiple roles including torpedo bombing, pathfinder operations, and V1 flying-bomb launching. Monogram first tooled this kit in 1994 — it remains one of the best 1/48 scale representations of the type, notable for its cockpit and bombardier station detail and straightforward construction.
