The fourth-generation Camaro Z28 paced the 77th Indianapolis 500 on May 30, 1993, with Chevrolet producing approximately 633–645 street replicas to mark the occasion. All pace car editions wore a distinctive two-tone black and white livery with multicoloured ribbon graphics and commemorative Indianapolis 500 fender decals. Power came from the 5.7L LT1 V8 — the same engine introduced in the C4 Corvette the previous year — rated at 275 hp. The Camaro had previously paced Indy in 1967 and 1982, making 1993 the nameplate's third appearance as the official pace car.
