The Ford Torino Talladega was a homologation special built for one purpose: to beat the winged Mopars on NASCAR's new superspeedways. Ford extended and dropped the nose, rolled the rocker panels to lower the car within the letter of the rules, and built just enough street examples to qualify the shape for competition. Named after the Alabama track, the Talladega delivered, carrying Ford to the 1969 manufacturers' championship.
