The Twin Otter took the bush plane formula de Havilland Canada had perfected and put two PT6 turboprops on it, giving operators a nineteen seat STOL aircraft that could work off gravel, ice, water or a short strip carved out of the bush. Production ran from 1965 and the type is still flying everywhere from Arctic resupply to island hopping in the Maldives. Ontario's norOntair used them across northern communities, and Kenn Borek Air still flies them to both poles.
