The Porsche 936 was built for the 1976 World Sportscar Championship, a turbocharged 2.1 litre flat six open-top spyder that drew heavily on the all-conquering 917. At the 500km of Imola, Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass gave it its first victory, and the car went on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans that June and help Porsche take the title. The 936 would win Le Mans twice more, in 1977 and 1981, making it one of the most successful Porsche prototypes ever built.
