The Maserati Ghibli was one of the great grand tourers of the late 1960s, and many consider it Maserati’s most beautiful road car. A young Giorgetto Giugiaro designed it while at Ghia, giving it a long, low, sharp-nosed fastback shape with pop-up headlights. It was unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show and named after a hot desert wind. A 4.7 litre quad cam V8 gave it a top speed of over 250 km/h, and it outsold its main rivals, the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Miura.
