The Lockheed P-3 Orion is a land-based maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft derived from the Electra airliner, entering US Navy service in the early 1960s. The P-3C, introduced in 1969, added a significantly upgraded acoustic and electronic sensor suite and became the definitive production variant, serving with the US Navy and numerous allied air arms. With its distinctive T-tail, four Allison T56 turboprops, and extended MAD boom, the Orion remained the primary Western maritime patrol platform for decades. It remains in service with several nations today.

A 1979 Minicraft import boxing of the Hasegawa K15 original tooling — the sole injection-moulded 1/72 P-3C. Note that kit decals on this 1979 boxing are now over 45 years old and brittleness is well-documented; aftermarket decals are strongly recommended.
