The Type 823 is one of the strangest things Volkswagen's military chassis ever carried: a Kübelwagen dressed up as a tank. With Germany's panzer arm still thin in the early war years, a mock armoured body and a rotating dummy turret were fitted over the Type 82 so infantry could train in tank cooperation, and the same vehicles turned up in North Africa as decoys to confuse aerial reconnaissance. Very few were built and photographs of them are rare, which makes this a genuinely unusual subject in 1/35.
