Description

MENRS002 - Meng - 1/12 Ford GT40 Mk.II '66

The Ford GT40 is an American sports and racing car that was first presented to the public in 1964. Its serial production lasted only in the years 1965-1968, and in its course only 146 units of this model were produced.

The main goal of creating the GT40 model was the pursuit of Henry Ford II to appear in motorsport and to break the dominance of the Ferrari team in them. Interestingly, initially the merger of both companies (Ford and Ferrari) was aimed at, but during the "final straight" Enzo Ferrari withdrew from this idea. The president of the American automotive giant therefore decided to dethrone Ferrari cars on race tracks. For this purpose, a completely new car was developed almost from scratch, with carefully refined aerodynamics, great traction properties, powered by powerful engines with a capacity of 4.2 to as much as 7 liters! The car reached a top speed of 327 km / h, which is great for those - and still awe-inspiring today. What's more, the Ford GT40 turned out to be a very successful design, which won the prestigious Le Mans race four times (in the years: 1966-1969). The car is an object of desire of many collectors and on the market it can reach prices of ... 11 million dollars!
