The Hawker Hunter was one of Britain's finest post-war jet fighters, serving the RAF in front-line and training roles for decades. The single-seat F.6 was the definitive fighter variant, while the T.7 introduced a widened nose with side-by-side seating for instructor and student. By the 1970s both versions flew together from RAF Wittering, as seen on the box art showing a Matra rocket-armed F.6 of No. 58 Squadron alongside a No. 45 Squadron T.7 on an instrument training sortie. Matchbox released this kit in 1976 as part of its famous three-colour range.
