The Little Red Wagon was a 1965 Dodge A-100 compact pickup that was built to drag race and ended up famous for driving on its rear wheels. A race-tuned 426 Hemi was mounted in the bed behind the cab, which put so much weight at the back that the truck lifted its front wheels off the ground on launch. Bill “Maverick” Golden learned to control it and turned it into the original wheelstander. He drove the Little Red Wagon at exhibitions for decades, entertaining crowds at drag strips across North America with quarter-mile runs on the rear wheels, and became one of drag racing’s most popular showmen.
