JCWXX2390 - JC Wings 1/200 USAir Boeing 727-200 Advanced
*Box shows some wear
The Boeing 727 was Boeing’s answer to short-runway, short-haul jet service. Its three rear-mounted engines and T-tail let it fly into smaller airports than the big four-engine jets of the day. The stretched 727-200 Advanced added more fuel and range, and with 1,832 built, the 727 was the world’s best-selling airliner until the 737 overtook it. USAir took its name in 1979, when Allegheny Airlines rebranded for its growth into a national carrier. Its 727s wore a bold red, burgundy and brown cheatline, often over polished bare metal. The airline became US Airways in 1997. Canadian travellers knew the type well too, since Air Canada and CP Air both flew 727-200s for many years.
