The Semovente M43 da 105/25 "Bassotto" was an Italian self-propelled gun of the Second World War, nicknamed "Bassotto" (dachshund) for its low profile. Built on a modified, widened, and lowered M15/42 tank chassis with an Ansaldo 105/25 howitzer in a fixed casemate, it entered service in small numbers in 1943 and is regarded as the most powerful Italian armoured vehicle of the war. After the Italian armistice, captured examples were used by German troops as the StuG M43 mit 105/25.
