The Maultier ("Mule") was a field-expedient solution to the Eastern Front's notorious mud and snow, which rendered conventional wheeled trucks useless. The concept originated with a workshop of the 2nd SS Division converting a standard 3-ton truck by replacing its rear axle and wheels with the running gear of a captured Soviet light tank. Opel's production version — the Blitz-derived Sd.Kfz.3 — became the most numerous variant, with over 6,000 built across all manufacturers. The type served on all fronts and was later developed into the armoured Sd.Kfz.4 Panzerwerfer carrier.

A 2003 rebox of Italaerei's original 1976 tooling. The kit uses the Opel Blitz body with a replacement sprue for the halftrack chassis and running gear.
