Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Biber ("Beaver") was the smallest midget submarine fielded by the Kriegsmarine, a one-man craft just nine metres long carrying two externally slung 53cm torpedoes or mines. Rushed from design to deployment in 1944 to attack Allied invasion shipping, over 300 were delivered, though hasty development, technical defects, and minimal crew training meant operational results were poor. It remains a fascinating example of late-war German desperation weapons.
This is a 1/35 scale injection-moulded plastic kit from Italeri (new tooling at release), made in Italy. Completed length: 18.6cm.
