The Panavia Tornado was the product of an ambitious tri-national partnership between Britain, West Germany and Italy, first flying in 1974 and serving for decades as the backbone of all three nations' strike forces. The IDS (interdictor/strike) variant pairs variable-geometry wings with terrain-following radar for low-level penetration, while the ECR (electronic combat and reconnaissance) version was developed for suppression of enemy air defences. Italeri's "Special Colours" edition celebrates the type with five of its most striking commemorative and squadron schemes on a large Super Decals Sheet.
