Description
HOMHL3001 - Hobby Master 1/200 Vickers Viscount BEA "G-AOJB"
Preowned, Mint inside, Box worn
The Vickers Viscount was the world’s first turboprop airliner. It first flew in 1948, and on April 18, 1953, British European Airways (BEA) put it into service, flying the world’s first scheduled turboprop passenger flights. Its four Rolls-Royce Dart engines gave passengers a smoother, quieter and faster ride than the piston airliners of the day, and its large oval windows became a trademark. The Viscount was a huge export success, with 445 built for about 70 airlines and 9 air forces. Here in Canada, Trans-Canada Air Lines flew Viscounts from 1955 and was the first North American operator. BEA flew the stretched Viscount 800 series across its European network. This Hobby Master replica depicts G-AOJB in BEA’s “red square” livery, with red wings and the BEA logo.
