Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box damaged
Admiral Hipper was the lead ship of the Kriegsmarine’s Admiral Hipper class of heavy cruisers. She was launched at the Blohm and Voss yard in Hamburg on 6 February 1937 and armed with eight 20.3 cm guns in four twin turrets. During the invasion of Norway in April 1940, the British destroyer HMS Glowworm rammed her in one of the war’s most famous small-ship actions. She went on to raid Atlantic convoys, attacking convoy SL 64 in February 1941, and fought at the Battle of the Barents Sea in December 1942. British bombers badly damaged her at Kiel in May 1945, and she was scuttled at the end of the war. Heller’s 1/400 kit builds a large, impressive model of the cruiser in her wartime camouflage.
