Republic’s P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the largest and heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. Its turbo-supercharged Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial gave it excellent high-altitude performance, and its eight .50 calibre machine guns gave it enormous firepower. Pilots called it the “Jug,” and it was known for its toughness, often bringing its pilot home with heavy battle damage. It escorted bombers over Europe and became one of the most effective ground-attack aircraft of the war. This Heller kit builds a natural metal P-47 with the yellow tail and blue triangle markings shown on the box art.
