Description
HBM2 - Halberd Models 1/48 Republic XP-47H Conversion Set for Trumpeter - WWHP113723
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
Republic built the XP-47H to test the Chrysler XIV-2220, an experimental 16-cylinder inverted-V liquid-cooled engine of about 2,500 hp. Two P-47D-15 “Razorback” airframes, 42-23297 and 42-23298, were rebuilt with the new engine, which gave the Thunderbolt a long, pointed nose and a belly radiator in place of the familiar round radial cowling. The first one flew on 26 July 1945 and reached about 414 mph in testing. The war ended before the engine was ready for production, and the programme was cancelled.
- Resin conversion set with 12 resin detail parts and 6 photo-etched parts
- Resin forward fuselage with the long inline-engine nose and belly radiator housing
- Resin spinner, propeller blades and exhaust parts
- Photo-etched detail fret
- Waterslide decals for both aircraft, with yellow tail numbers 223297 and 223298
- Full-colour instructions and painting guide in Olive Drab over Neutral Grey, with AK 3rd Generation colour callouts
- For the Trumpeter 1/32 P-47D Thunderbolt “Razorback” kit, which is not included
- Halberd Models limited production, made in Ukraine
