The TA-4J was the two seat Skyhawk the US Navy adopted in 1968 to replace the TF-9J Cougar in advanced training. Stretching the A-4 attack aircraft into a trainer left the handling largely intact, and instructors rated it honest and easy to fly. Thousands of naval aviators went through their advanced syllabus in one, and the Blue Angels used the TA-4J as their two seater for VIP and press flights through the type's heyday.
