Description
HAS09840 - Hasegawa 1/48 A6M1 12-Shi Experimental Zero - WWHP111921
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The A6M1 was the original prototype of what would become the legendary Zero fighter, built in response to the Imperial Japanese Navy's demanding 12-Shi specification issued in 1937. Only two prototypes were constructed, both powered by the Mitsubishi Zuisei 13 radial engine, with the first flight taking place on April 1, 1939. Though the Zuisei proved underpowered and was subsequently replaced by the Nakajima Sakae in the production A6M2, the A6M1 prototypes established the airframe that would go on to define Japanese naval aviation through the Pacific War.
