The A6M7 Type 62 was the dedicated fighter-bomber development of the Zero, optimised for late-war operations with strengthened tail structure, centreline bomb rack, and underwing drop tank provisions. The first Type 62 was completed in February 1945, intended primarily for kamikaze and interceptor roles as Allied forces closed on the Japanese home islands. This 2008 limited edition release adds new plastic parts — centreline bomb rack, bomb, and underwing drop tanks — to Hasegawa's established 1/48 Zero tooling.
