The Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 was the final production variant of the Bf 109 series, entering Luftwaffe service in late 1944. Powered by the DB 605D engine with MW 50 methanol-water injection boosting output to approximately 2,000hp, the K-4 was the fastest Bf 109 variant to enter service, with a top speed exceeding 710km/h at altitude. It featured a pressurised cockpit, retractable tailwheel, and the Galland canopy as standard. Despite its impressive performance, it arrived too late in too few numbers to affect the outcome of the war.
