Description
HAS02476 - Hasegawa 1/72 UH-60J JMSDF Atsugi Rescue Squadron
The UH-60J is a search and rescue version of the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk family, operated by both the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The JMSDF chose the type as a replacement for the S-61A, with deliveries beginning in 1991 and entering service in 1992. Built under licence by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the JMSDF variant is powered by marinised T700-IHI-401C engines and features external fuel tanks on stub wings, an external rescue winch, a Japanese-developed surface search radar, a FLIR turret in the nose, and bubble side windows to give on-board observers an improved field of vision during search operations. The distinctive white and orange rescue colour scheme worn by JMSDF UH-60Js makes them immediately recognisable against the aircraft's combat-configured stablemates. No. 72 Squadron, based at Atsugi Air Base, operates UH-60Js in the search and rescue role.
This 2024 limited edition release from Hasegawa reproduces the Atsugi Rescue Squadron machine in its rescue livery, with metal and photo-etched parts included for additional detail.
