The 250 GT Berlinetta Short Wheelbase arrived in 1959 and settled the question of whether a Ferrari could be genuinely usable on the road and still win outright. Shortening the wheelbase to 2400 mm sharpened the handling, disc brakes were fitted for the first time on a Ferrari GT, and the Colombo V12 gave up to 240 horsepower. It took the GT class at Le Mans and the Tour de France repeatedly, and it is the direct ancestor of the 250 GTO. Gunze Sangyo's High-Tech Model series combines plastic bodywork with metal and photo etched components, and this is the first lot from January 1986.
