Description
GMP13021 - GMP 1/18 1967 Mark Donohue/Team Penske Camaro Z28
Chevrolet introduced the Camaro Z/28 in 1967 to race in the new SCCA Trans-Am series. Its high-revving 302 cubic inch V8 was built specifically to fit under the series’ 5-litre limit. Roger Penske’s team, with Mark Donohue driving, gave the car its Trans-Am debut at Daytona in 1967. Donohue led for several laps before he was forced to retire. The blue #36 Camaro took a few races to show its potential. By the end of the 1967 season the Penske Camaro had begun a run of domination that brought Chevrolet the Trans-Am manufacturers’ titles in 1968 and 1969, and it made Donohue and Penske one of the great partnerships in American racing. This limited-edition GMP replica, part of the Penske Racing Authentics line, depicts Donohue’s 1967 car.
