The 1/700 Water Line Series was a collaborative venture launched in 1971 by the Shizuoka Model Teaching Material Cooperative — a consortium of Japanese manufacturers including Tamiya, Hasegawa, Fujimi, and Aoshima — to produce a standardised range of scale waterline ship kits. Scenery accessory sets were added to allow modellers to build diorama port scenes around their ship models. The Harbour Set A (Crane Set) was introduced in 1975 as one of the first scenic accessory releases in the series and has remained in continuous production under various manufacturer labels since. This example is the Fujimi-distributed edition.
