The Mitsubishi F-1 was Japan's first domestically designed and built jet combat aircraft of the post-war era, a single-seat close-support and anti-ship fighter developed from the Mitsubishi T-2 supersonic trainer. It entered Japan Air Self-Defense Force service in 1978 and served until 2006, tasked mainly with anti-ship strike and ground attack, and is often compared in layout to the Anglo-French SEPECAT Jaguar. This kit is built on Hasegawa's shared T-2/F-1 tooling.
