The Boeing 747 entered service with Pan American World Airways in January 1970 and rapidly transformed long-haul commercial aviation. Japan Air Lines was among the earliest 747 operators, taking delivery of its first aircraft — JA8101 — in 1970 and deploying the type on transpacific routes. At 1/400 scale the completed model measures approximately 55cm (22") wingspan, making it a compact desk or display piece.
