The M36 Jackson was an American tank destroyer developed to counter heavy German armour, mounting a 90mm gun in an open-topped turret on a Sherman-derived chassis. Entering service in late 1944, it was one of the few US vehicles able to reliably defeat Panther and Tiger tanks at combat range, and it saw action through the final campaigns in Europe. It later served in Korea and with a number of foreign armies.
