Fiat's G.55 Centauro was widely regarded as Italy's best fighter of the Second World War. It first flew on 30 April 1942, powered by the same Daimler-Benz DB 605A engine used in the Messerschmitt Bf 109G, and most were flown by the Aviazione Nazionale Repubblicana after the 1943 Armistice. One example was converted to carry a torpedo beneath the fuselage as the G.55S "Silurante," and this multimedia short run kit from Flying Machines captures that rare variant.
