The Tu-22 "Blinder" was the Soviet Union's first supersonic bomber, entering service in 1962 as a medium-range strike aircraft capable of delivering nuclear or conventional payloads. It saw combat service with Libya and Iraq, and was later adapted as a launch platform for the AS-4 Kitchen stand-off missile.
