The F-15E Strike Eagle is a two-seat, all-weather strike variant of McDonnell Douglas's F-15 air-superiority fighter, developed to add deep-strike ground-attack capability while retaining the Eagle's air-to-air performance. Entering US Air Force service in the late 1980s, it carries a heavy ordnance load across conformal fuel tanks and multiple hardpoints, with a weapons systems officer in the rear seat. It has since served extensively in conflicts from the Gulf War onward and remains in frontline use.
