The Panther (Panzer V) was a German medium tank introduced in 1943, widely regarded as one of the best-balanced tank designs of the Second World War for its combination of firepower, sloped armour, and mobility. The Ausf. A was an early-to-mid production variant armed with the high-velocity 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 gun, which could defeat most Allied armour at long range. The Panther served on all fronts and heavily influenced postwar tank design.
