The Battle of Monte Cassino was fought between January and May 1944 as the Allies tried to break the German Winter Line on the road to Rome. After the Allies bombed the abbey above the town, German Fallschirmjager of the 1st Parachute Division moved into the ruins and held them as a fortress through months of costly fighting, earning the Allied nickname "Green Devils." This Premium Edition set from Dragon depicts four of these paratroopers in action among the rubble.
