This kit replicates the Heinkel He 162 Volksjäger ("People's Fighter," also known by the project name Salamander), a German jet fighter rushed into development late in 1944 and flown for the first time that December. Built largely of wood to conserve strategic materials and intended for rapid mass production, the A-2 production version was armed with two 20mm cannon and saw only very limited operational service before the war's end. This is part of DML's Golden Wings Series, with a parts count of 57 including a small photo-etched fret.
